About the Salary Calculator
A simple salary calculator helps you estimate how much of your gross compensation you may actually receive after taxes, retirement contributions and other deductions.
This calculator starts with your base annual salary and adds annual bonuses and allowances to determine gross annual income. Estimated taxes, retirement contributions and other deductions are then subtracted to calculate your estimated net or take-home salary.
The calculator is designed for quick salary comparisons, budgeting, employment discussions and personal financial planning. Because tax systems differ by country, state, province and individual circumstances, the tax percentage is user-controlled rather than automatically applying a specific tax jurisdiction's rules.

How Salary Is Calculated: Step by Step
Example: suppose your base salary is $60,000, your annual bonus is $5,000 and your allowances are $3,000.
Calculate gross salary
$60,000 + $5,000 + $3,000 = $68,000 gross annual salary.
Calculate estimated tax
At a 20% estimated tax rate: $68,000 × 20% = $13,600 tax.
Calculate retirement contribution
At a 5% contribution rate: $68,000 × 5% = $3,400.
Add other deductions
If other deductions are $1,000 annually, total deductions are $13,600 + $3,400 + $1,000 = $18,000.
Calculate take-home salary
$68,000 − $18,000 = $50,000 estimated net annual salary.
Convert to monthly income
$50,000 ÷ 12 = $4,166.67 estimated monthly take-home pay.
